Barry and Ann Kahan have been dancing Argentine Tango for over 10 years. Being primarily social dancers and judging by almost everyone else’s biography, they are one of the few couples who have never taught Madonna or appeared in “Forever Tango.” In the course of their tango education they have exhausted their son’s inheritance by taking numerous workshops and private lessons from over 60 of the world’s best Argentinian tango dancers and instructors. They are graduates of numerous tango festivals world wide and have appeared by accident on television in Argentina and Spain and in on numerous DVD’s and their picture has appeared in the book "Tango en Buenos Aires" by Jorge Campos and Ricardo Blaya, published in Argentina. Finally reaching a respectable age they can truly be called OLD milongueros. The Kahans have been teaching authentic social Argentine tango in Richmond Virginia for over 6 years specializing in technique and floor craft, utilizing principles learned from yoga, Tai Chi and other disciplines. They have guided groups of Argentine tango dancers to Buenos Aires and other tango venues in order to promote an understanding of the skills required to dance social Argentine tango on an extremely crowded dance floor. They themselves have visited Buenos Aires 17 times in their quest for a better understanding of the Argentine tango dance, the music and the culture. By dancing at most of the major milongas in Buenos Aires they have developed an understanding and a deep appreciation for the various orchestras and orchestral tango compositions utilized for dancing. In the course of their travels they have been fortunate to develop numerous friendships in various Argentine tango communities. Their goal is to develop a tango community in Richmond Virginia large enough to support a regularly scheduled milonga.
